When Should I Renovate My Home?

If you’re ready for an upgrade, anytime is a great time to start your next home project. However, each season comes with a few plusses and minuses depending on the project you’re looking to complete. Here are our tips for you to plan out your home renovations!

Winter

Contrary to popular belief, wintertime can be a great season to start your remodeling projects! The cold air, although it can feel abrasive, allows for great construction conditions such as frozen ground and dry air for a stronger foundation for construction workers to work with.

This also may be an easier time to schedule your project, considering most homeowners wait for the spring.

Spring

This is typically the time of year when most people want to start their home projects – the weather is warmer, there’s been time to save after the holiday season and generally people are ready for change.

Outdoor projects are popular throughout the spring so that homeowners can enjoy additions or renovations in time for summer. Projects such as decks and patios are more ideal in the springtime, whereas renovations like siding and window replacement are not as dependent on the weather or time of year.

Summer

As the days get hotter in the summer months, we recommend using this season for any of your indoor renovations. Additionally, if you choose to take a summer vacation you can leave the work behind and come back to a brand-new home!

Roofing projects are also great in summer months. Roofing materials seal nicely in higher temperatures, although you can get your roof replaced at virtually any time of the year.

Companies will be cautious on behalf of their construction workers and let you know if it’s too hot for a job. It’s important to prioritize your own safety as well as those who are working in hot conditions.

Fall

The beginning of fall can be a great time for construction as temperatures start to decrease. However, we understand many homeowners wish to have their projects done around November in time for the holiday season.

If you’re willing to have construction crews in your home during this season, it can be a great time for home renovations. Since business tends to be slower at this time, you may be able to find less expensive services.

Timing

As previously mentioned, the changing seasons should not impact your home renovations as much as you may have thought. It’s nice to weigh the pros and cons of each time of year, but if you want to meet a deadline then you can start your project now with careful planning and research.
